Welcome, UCSD students!
We have a few rules that all UCSD Spin users should abide by, but the rule of thumb is park safely and make sure all e-bikes and scooters are on campus at the end of your ride.
Parking:
Spin e-bikes and scooters should be parked within a few feet of the nearest bike rack on a hard concrete location. Designated campus bike zones will be created as demand patterns are identified. The e-bike and scooter should never block pedestrian or any travel, access or cause a safety hazard.
Zone Limits:
E-bikes and scooters are meant for use on campus by students, faculty and staff. If you take the vehicle off campus, you should return it to campus in a timely manner the same day. If your app doesn't let you unlock your vehicle and you find yourself off-campus, please send us a message via the "Help" button on the bottom right corner of our site.
UCSD E-Bikes and Scooter FAQs:
- How much does it cost to ride?
To review the cost to ride, simply tap on any e-bike or scooter located within the Spin App. The pricing and battery percentage will display for the vehicle.
- How do I locate an e-bike or scooter on campus?
Simply open up the app map to locate a nearby vehicle! On the bottom right corner of the Spin App, you can filter which vehicles you would like to view!
- Can I take an e-bike or scooter off campus?
For now, we ask that we keep the vehicles within the UCSD community.
- How do I turn it on?
Scan the QR code located between the handlebars. There will be a 7-digit number located underneath the QR code if you need to manually insert the code.
- Does the electric assist (e-bikes) work going up steep hills?
E-bikes are a powerful way to get around campus, including up-hills. With too much stress, however, it’s been recorded that the electric assist temporarily shuts.
- What happens if the e-bike runs out of battery?
No worries! All e-bikes also work as normal bikes, too. An alert will go out to our team to swap recharge the battery.
